Stay Active with Your Family
Summer is the perfect time for families to embrace the great outdoors and engage in activities that promote physical fitness and strengthen family bonds! Encouraging children to stay active during the summer not only benefits their physical health but also fosters a sense of adventure. In this blog, we will explore three exciting ways for us to stay active with the whole family outside this summer.
Explore the Outdoors
One of the best ways to stay active with your family is by exploring the wonders of nature. Take advantage of the great outdoors and go on a hike together! Choose a local trail that offers beautiful scenery or historic value. When it comes to hiking, there’s no rush, so encourage your kids to stop and interact with their surroundings. For example, challenge them to identify different types of birds or trees along the way. It’s an excellent opportunity for kids to learn about nature while staying physically active!
Make a Splash
Beat the heat by taking a dip into refreshing water this Summer. Head to a nearby beach, lake, or pool and have a blast swimming and playing water games! Encourage kids to practice their swimming skills or try new sports like kayaking, surfing, or snorkeling. You can also organize a friendly water balloon fight or set up a sprinkler or slip n’ slide in your backyard for some endless fun. Hydrating activities provide an excellent way to stay cool, have fun, and be active.
Roll Around
Put the pedal to the metal on wheels this Summer! Cycling, rollerblading, and boarding are fantastic outdoor activities that the whole family can enjoy. Plan a biking adventure and explore your local neighborhood, park, or bike trails together. Ensure that everyone wears safety gear and follows traffic rules. If your children prefer rollerblading or skateboarding, find a nearby skating rink, skate park, or a smooth and safe area to glide around. Rollerblading and skateboarding not only improve balance and coordination, but also guarantee laughter and memorable family moments!
In Our Classes…
Through our daily character talks each class this week, we will be teaching our students why it is important to spend time being active with their families this Summer! So keep an ear out to listen for even more ways that you and your family can bond through physical activity. Our class drills and exercises are also examples of other things parents and kids can do together for extra practice and exercise. Our goal this week is to help kids find a passion for spending time with their families, while also keeping up with regular activity!
Conclusion
Staying active as a family is crucial for children’s physical and emotional well-being. By exploring nature, going for a swim, and getting on wheels, kids can have a fantastic summer while staying fit and building stronger bonds with their loved ones. Remember, it’s not about the intensity of the activity, but the joy of spending quality time together. So, make the most of the summer season, get outside, and create lasting memories as you engage in these fun-filled activities with your family!
