Be Creative
As the sun shines brighter and school doors close for the summer, children find themselves with ample free time to explore their creativity and let their imaginations soar. With all this extra time in the day, it’s important to teach our kids how to spend it wisely by staying productive. A great and fun way to do this is to encourage your kids to engage in creative activities that stimulate their minds and foster their artistic abilities. Let’s explore 3 awesome ways to help kids get creative and keep their minds active this Summer:
Inner Artists
Summer is the perfect time for children to embrace their artistic side through painting and drawing. The best part about making art is that you don’t need any fancy materials to make it! A couple pencils, markers, or even crayons can get you started. Or, if you want you can opt for some more resources like paint, brushes, and a canvas. No matter how you do it, though, letting the imagination take over helps kids embrace their creative side, and lean into their individuality and unique personalities. Engaging in these activities also helps children develop fine motor skills, boosts their visual thinking, and provides an outlet for self-expression.
Make Music
Summer can also be the ideal time to tap into a passion for making music. You can find fun, inexpensive musical instruments on online stores that your kids will have a blast learning to play! Whether it’s strumming a guitar, tapping on a drum set, or hammering notes on a keyboard, playing music enhances cognitive development, improves memory, and promotes emotional well-being. Encourage your child to join a music class or make music with friends to experience the joy of collaboration and performance!
Creative Writing
Writing offers a gateway to limitless imagination and self-expression. Encourage your child to embark on literary adventures by writing short stories, poems, or even starting a journal. Let them pick out cool notebooks, colorful pens, and fun writing prompts to ignite their creativity. Engaging in creative writing is a great way to be productive, because it enhances vocabulary, critical thinking, and communication skills. Have them explore different genres and encourage them to share their stories with family and friends. Creative writing not only provides loads of fun, but also cherished memories to look back on for years to come.
In Our Classes…
In our classes this week, we will be showing our kids why it is important to be creative this Summer. Our character talks each class will focus on even more ways that kids can enhance their creativity and imagination, while also working on critical life skills. Believe it or not, the forms we learn in class are a form of art themselves. They’re all about making sure that you hit each move with power and poise, and performing it in a visually satisfying format. Students can even take what they learn in class, and create their own forms at home! Afterall, it is called “Martial ARTS.”
In Conclusion
This summer, let’s let our children’s imagination foster their creativity through painting and drawing, playing music, and creative writing. These activities not only provide an outlet for self-expression but also enhance cognitive skills and promote personal growth. By encouraging your children to explore these creative pursuits, you can empower them to become confident, independent thinkers who can communicate their ideas with clarity and passion. So, let their imagination flourish, and watch them thrive as they embark on a journey of self-discovery and artistic fulfillment.
